Negotiations continue at the Midwest Regional Table. In the past week, we have received proposals from the Company on leveraged titles (Service Reps on commission for sales), destroying employment security, gutting the grievance procedure, and eliminating all protections for surplus employees who accepted positions under Appendix (F). Virtually all of the proposals the Company has made have been retrogressive. The Company is systematically trying to destroy our contract. AT&T continues to follow a national script rather than actually bargaining based on our Midwest issues and contract.

MOBILIZATION NEWS: On March 5, locals across District 4 mobilized for health care. They distributed health care brochures and members showed up at work in scrubs, wearing band-aids, in wheelchairs and on crutches.

On March 10, over 100 members rallied outside the AT&T building at 45 Erieview Plaza in Cleveland, Ohio. The rain, wind and cold did not dampen the spirits of District 4 members who are prepared to do Whatever It Takes to get a fair contract at AT&T. Ann Hill, Regional Director for Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and Harriett Applegate Executive Director of North Shore Federation of Labor spoke and pledged their support in our fight for a fair contract. District 4 Vice President Seth Rosen told the crowd, "We need to remember - AT&T is not like General Motors; AT&T made 12.9 billion dollars last year, that's Billion with a B."

Negotiations will continue this week. This Thursday, March 12, is National Health care day. Contact your Local's mobilization coordinator or officers to find out about your Local's activities.

The next report will be on Tuesday March 17 or sooner should developments warrant.
